Colorful places

colorful

There is just something about colorful places. It reminds you of innocence and being a kid once more. Running around barefoot and not minding the dirt and the surroundings. This is what I often feel when see a place with so many beautiful colors in it. It’s like looking in a kaleidoscope of sorts.

I love reminiscing about the past. And when something triggers it, I feel really good. You can say I had a great childhood. Today, I feel that way. All because of some lively colors.

Sleepless nights

Stress is giving my friend sleepless nights. When you see her, there are dark circles under her eyes from the lack of sleep. She was assigned the head of a big project in their company and the success of it will propel her up the corporate ladder. She’s eyeing the marketing director position and she knows for sure that this project is a test if she can handle a bigger responsibility in the company.

I say, good luck to her! I’ve never desired to be so high up the corporate ladder, even before that I was just starting my career. No ambitions that high for myself. I just want a comfortable life. I don’t like the stress and the sleepless nights and the burden of giving a company a better bottomline. That’s not for me.

Jen’s getting fit

My friend, Jen, is saving enough money to buy her very own fitness equipment. She has become hooked on getting fit ever since her boyfriend proposed to her. Since it is still six months away before her wedding, she is making sure that she will look really good in her wedding dress. She’s working out daily. And she’s following a very strict diet from a nutritionist that she hired.

Knowing Jen, I know that she will achieve more than her goal. She’s like that when she sets her mind on something.

Skin problems

One of my girl friends has an acne problem. It’s been a couple of years now and all she does, according to her, is go to her dermatologist twice a month for facials. I told her that since that kind of treatment does not work for her, she might as well try new acne treatments and see what will work best for her. Then she should stick to that treatment until the acne goes away. For good.

I always say that in this day and age when almost every imaginable treatment can be found for common skin problems, it is unacceptable not to take advantage of the solutions being offered.

What tomorrow brings…

carefreeI wish I can throw my worries to the wind and just let tomorrow take care of itself. But that would be irresponsible of me. If I am only thinking of myself, I can do that. But since at least four people are relying on me, I can’t just put their future in the hands of time, right? I need to take care of them the best way I know how.

There are times when I feel like giving up. When I feel like walking away. There are times when I feel like being selfish. But at the end of the day, I know I am not like that. I can never be like that. I’d like to think there is more good in me than the bad.

Keep the faith. That tomorrow will bring good cheer, always. That’s what I keep telling myself whenever I feel the weight on my shoulders. And that there are persons with far more responsibility than mine…

Woman-run car store

I live in a place where car accessories abound. A store beside my grandma’s house is very popular in our neighborhood because of the high quality products it sells. When I asked my dad about it, he told me that a woman owns the shop. Imagine that! Since most car stores in our neighborhood are owned by men, I assumed that the one running it must be a man as well.

The place is well-run as what my dad told me. And the woman is very much knowledgeable about cars and everything related to it. Wow! Now, that’s something that she can really boast of.

Younger than me?

I saw a local actress at a restaurant a few weeks ago. If I am not mistaken, she’s already in her late 40s. Or early 50s, probably. But when I saw her, I couldn’t believe my eyes. She’s so young-looking and without any hint of wrinkles on her face. She is either using the best wrinkle cream or had a face lift. She had minimal make-up so I really saw her face. Plus, she stayed at my left side where she talked to someone on her mobile phone. I was able to covertly look at her.

I felt ashamed when I looked in the mirror after that. I think I look older than her! There’s no reason for me to look old because I am still young. But since I am neglecting myself for the past few years, it resulted to this. It’s time to start going to my dermatologist again and using that night cream I have.

Never quit.

Never, never, never quit. – Winston Churchill

DontQuit

There are a lot of things I want out of life. Most of it are out of my reach. For now. I know that I need not give up on my quest to achieve the things I want because sooner or later I know I’ll get it. I just have to do my best and follow through.

Never quit. Unless there is proof that it will be a failure no matter what, then don’t.

Swipe that card instead

When shopping these days, choose stores that accept credit card. Do not bring large sum of money with you. It is like blood to sharks. The criminal minds somehow know that you are carrying cash with you.

It stuck in my mind that news about a woman who carried 17,000 pesos with her for Christmas shopping. For some reason, the criminals knew about the cash and she was robbed in the middle of the shopping crowd! Imagine that!

Carry a credit card instead of cash. Remember that always when you are going out shopping. It will save you from the headache of thinking that your hard earned money was taken away from you just like that.

Wiser in financial decisions

I am using a Samsung LCD monitor for my desktop. I bought it separately because I know the quality of Samsung from our LCD tv. I love the resolution and the quality of the product.

I work hard for every little thing I buy. That’s why I always make sure that I am buying something that will give me the most benefit. If I know a slightly more expensive product will last me longer than a cheaper brand, it’s okay for me to shell out a bit more because I know I will get more time from it. I always get my money’s worth, in short. You should, too. Earning an income is not as easy as it used to be. We need to be wiser when it comes to making financial decisions now.

Looking good as ever

A college professor of mine always looked stressed out in the past. We would always tease her about it and she would just smile a sad smile. When I saw her, she told me that she was sending two siblings to college back then and it was stressing her out all the time. I was surprised that now, she looks so good! She’s slim and younger-looking. You wouldn’t even guess she’s already in her 40s. It’s the best diet supplements that her sister supplies her with. The one that she sent to college when I was still in college myself is now a registered nurse and working at one of the prestigious hospitals in the city.

Bad habit

It’s so hard to get right of belly fat, especially when you love soda like me. I have been trying to rid myself of this bad habit of drinking soda with lunch or dinner. But it’s so hard. You always crave for the taste of it.

Well, you now know what my belly looks like. My sisters and I have been trying to cut down our food intake, specifically rice and soda. I just wish it will last for more than a week.

Own bathroom

superior-installed

I would love to have a bathroom all my own. As it is, I am sharing a bathroom with everyone at home. It’s okay except when everyone’s in a hurry and you are required to cut short your leisurely bath. Or when there’s someone who wants to use the bathroom right away and you’re still inside.

My dream bathroom will be one as big as a bedroom with a walk in bath or a luxury bathtub. That would really be super!
